American Federation of Labor (AFL-CIO) Award, bestowed upon Arthur Ashe posthumously in 1993, after the tennis legend passed away earlier that year. Ashe received the award from the labor group for his ''active role in civil rights efforts in the United States and abroad, and his contributions to community development, as well as his good relations with the labor movement.'' Bronze circular medal reads: ''American Federation of Labor - Congress of Industrial Organizations / Murray-Green-Meany Award'' with the organization's emblem of a family engraved to front. Verso reads: ''Presented to Arthur Ashe as a token of the profound gratitude of the members of the AFL-CIO for contributions to their health and welfare / July 21, 1993''. Measures 3.5'' in diameter, with the slightest tarnishing, else near fine. With an LOA from Ashe's widow.
