Arthur Ashe's Olympic Order award, bestowed on Ashe posthumously in 1993. Silver collar-style award features the iconic Olympics symbol of 5 interlocking rings flanked by the kotinos, or olive wreath. Included is the accompanying citation signed by International Olympic Committee president Juan Antonio Samaranch. Award, crafted by trophy maker Bertoni, Milano, is quite grand in scale, with the Olympic Rings focal point alone measuring 3.75'' x 1.75''. The pair of kotinos pieces each measure 1'' x 6.5'', and are composed of two segments linked together on a swiveling hinge and connected with a 15.5'' chain. Order is in near fine condition and rests elegantly upon a crimson velvet cushion inside its hinged case, which bears the Bertoni name on the lid's satin lining. Exterior features the Olympic Rings mounted to the lid and hardware for securing closure at the front. Minor scuffing to case edges and tarnish to metal decoration, else near fine. 1pp. citation on Olympics stationery measures 8.25'' x 5.75'' and is near fine. A breathtaking piece of world renown. With an LOA from Arthur Ashe's widow.
