Arthur Ashe's personally owned and worn Association of Tennis Professionals Championship medallion from 1984. The very next year he would be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The ATP was created in 1972 by tennis pros to provide them with a voice in the game, and to standardize statistics and rankings. Ashe was an instrumental proponent of the ATP, and today the organization bestows the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award on its biggest-hearted members. Silver medallion is engraved with the words ''ATP Championship Medallion'' arcing over the image of a player about to serve the ball. ''Arthur Ashe / 1984'' is engraved to the reverse. Medallion comes suspended from a crisp blue and white striped ribbon. Measures 2.5'' in diameter. Mild tarnishing, else near fine. With an LOA from Arthur Ashe's widow.
