Miss America pageant crown and trophy from 1964. The stunning Miss America crown and stately trophy awarded to a woman who competed for the title of Miss North Carolina in 1964. The classic beauty pageant began in 1921 and has since provided millions in scholarships to young women. This crown was manufactured by K.A. Concepts exclusively for the Miss America Organization; four-point crown is made of hundreds of Swarovsky crystals and features an integral barrette. Measures 4" in diameter at the base, and 2.25" high. In very good condition save for a loose spire. All stones present. Trophy is metal on a wooden base and is topped with a figure of a beauty queen dressed in a gown, wearing a crown and holding a scepter. Measures 21.5" in total height. Base measures 6.5" across and 4" deep. Some tarnishing to metal and light abrasions to wood. Winged figurines designed to flank the central column are detached from base and the wing of one has a chipped tip and break at the ankles, else near fine. Included in the lot is a glossy 8" x 10" photo of the beauty queen wearing the crown and holding the trophy. With news clippings featuring more photos of the crowned recipient. A lovely pair of scarce and glamorous pieces of Americana.
