Original 1815 French circular issued by the Council of War announcing the death sentence of Napoleon's General Charles de la Bedoyere. In part: ''...The accused who was arrested at the home of Madame de Fontery, friend to his wife, half an hour after his arrival in Paris...The enormity of his crime was made clear 'it is because of your mistakes that lead to all other other defections, the revolution of March 20, the defeat of Waterloo, and invasion of our provinces...'' Twenty-nine at the time, Bedoyere was executed on 19 August 1815. Printed by C.F. Patris, the exclusive printer of such death sentences. 4pp. on card-stlye paper measures 8.25'' x 9.5''. Minimal paper loss to lower right edges and corner, else near fine. Accompanied by a more complete translation, including portions of Bedoyere's defense.
