Pope Benedict XV official Benediction signed ''Benedictus PPXV''. His photograph is mounted to the document, above illuminated calligraphy reading, ''Most holy Father, Rt Rev. Monsignore M.J. Crane U.G. prostrate at the feet of your holiness, implores the Apostolic Benediction on Governor William A. Sproul and his family.'' Sproul was the governor of Pennsylvania from 1919-1923. Manuscript in Latin above Benedict's signature dates the benediction to 28 March 1921. Matte photo measures 4'' x 5.25''. Document measures 9.25'' x 13.5''. Mounted to heavy paper board with toning and a small spot near left edge, else near fine condition. A beautiful display.
