The ''New York Herald Tribune'' dated 23 April 1945, two days before Elbe Day and the week preceding Hitler's suicide, announcing the fall of Berlin. The front page headline trumpets, ''Nazis Report Russians in Center of Berlin, Cossacks and Tanks Gain Street by Street, Allies Ready for Link-Up, Believed at Hand''. A map of Berlin tracks Russian progress through the city and a photo shows the Russian Foreign Commisar's warm welcome in Washington. 12pp. section has toning and a tear to the left edge. Chipping along folds. Very good.
