Civil War soldier's letter from Corp. Charles Morfoot of the 101st Ohio Infantry, dated 11 June 1863. Morfoot writes to his wife describing the hanging of two criminals ''...there is 2 men to be hung today...they are Murders and Robbers. One was hung last Friday. They cut off an old mans ears and tong[ue] then kil'd him. The soldiers captured 3 of them there is 5 yet at large...Charles Morfoot''. Card style letter measures 5'' x 8'' and is mildly toned and very lightly soiled in some places. Very good condition.
