WWII General Courtney H. Hodges typed letter signed on Headquarters First United States Army stationery. He writes to a Jacob of McDonald, Pennsylvania. Dated 9 May 1945, he writes the letter just weeks after his promotion to General following the Battle of the Bulge. It reads: ''Dear Jacob, Enclosed you will find the First Army shoulder patch which you requested in your recent letter. Sincerely, [signed] Courtney H. Hodges''. Lot includes the khaki green and black embroidered First Army shoulder patch, which measures 2.25'' x 3'' and comes in near fine condition, mounted to a paper sheet. 1pp. letter measures 6.25'' x 8.25''.
