Two 1842 first edition books by Samuel Rogers, collected for their rare fore-edge paintings of the Tiber and Thames Rivers. Both octavo books published by Edward Moxon in London. ''Italy, a Poem'' features a fore-edge painting of Rome across the Tiber River, and ''Poems'' has a fore-edge painting of the Waterloo Bridge across the Thames River. Both books are in contemporary full green morocco with gilt titles and decorations. In very good condition with previous owner's bookplate, lightly rubbed and sunned, and foxing throughout.
