Ludwig Bemelmans large, colorful watercolor signed from his beloved ''Madeline'' book series. Artwork portrays a Parisian street scene containing the Madeline characters, as the setting of the book took place in a Catholic boarding school in Paris. Quirky characters, from a man on a bicycle to a cute dog, are depicted going about their day. Ink and watercolor heightened with white on illustration board. Signed ''Bemelmans'' at lower right. Board is matted and framed to an overall size of 22'' x 21.5''. Fine condition. A rare find for fans of the children's classic.
