''Madeline and the Bad Hat'' Limited First Edition Signed by Ludwig Bemelmans -- With Original Large Sketch by Bemelmans of a Child in the ''Bad Hat''

Limited first edition copy of Ludwig Bemelmans ''Madeline and the Bad Hat'' signed. New York: Viking: 1956. The author and illustrator sketches the boy in the bad hat upon the verso of the front free endpaper. He begins his inscription there and completes it on the limitation page: ''To Marc Antoine with love from Stevie and his Godfather / with Love again / Ludwig / Nov 28, 56.'' This copy is number 885 of 985 printed. 9'' x 12'' book is bound in green cloth boards with colorful illustrated pastedowns and endpapers. No dustjacket. Book is in near fine condition.
