Stage front ticket to the groundbreaking 1967 Monterey Pop Music Festival. This ticket, No. 296, is for Sunday the 18th, and admits one to Jimi Hendrix's legendary first performance in the U.S. in which he famously ''sacrificed'' and destroyed his guitar onstage. The precursor to Woodstock, this large-scale festival kicked off the infamous Summer of Love in Northern California with The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Otis Redding, The Who and more. This weekend also saw Janis Joplin give her historic best performance in the history of rock. Three years later both Hendrix and Joplin would be dead. Ticket measures 3.5'' x 1.25''. Fine. A gem from an unsurpassed era in music and youth culture. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA COA.
