Laura Keene autograph note signed. It reads in full: ''Very Truly yours / Laura Keene / Washington DC / March 9th 1869''. Keene produced and starred in the play Abraham Lincoln attended at Ford's Theater the night he was shot. After ''Our American Cousin'' was interrupted by John Wilkes Booth's murderous rampage, Keene reportedly cradled the President's his head in her lap as he lay dying. The bloodstained garment she wore is on display at the National Museum of American History. Slip measures 4.5'' 4.75''. Toning and pencil notations to bottom left, else near fine.
