Arthur writes as President, a post he assumed following the assassination of President James Garfield in 1881. Matte sepia cabinet photo by photographer Abraham Bogardus measures 6.5'' x 4.25''. Autograph appears on card stock of same size as cabinet photo affixed to the verso of photo. Gilt edged card has slight soiling on verso else near fine condition.
