Original art hand-rendered and signed by Marc Chagall on the frontispiece of his book ''Marc Chagall de Draeger,'' Draeger-Vilo: Paris: 1979. The great Jewish modernist employs wax crayon, pen, brush, and India ink to execute a work directly onto the frontispiece. He inscribes the page opposite: ''Pour Ingrid et Alfred en bon souvenir Chagall''. Dated 1979 to the lower left. The drawing's stark black birds alighting in the tree provide a quintessential example of Chagall's trademark use of color to create movement in a piece. Chagall's celebrated career has produced a body of work encompassing every medium from stained glass windows in cathedrals and the ceiling of the Paris Opera to sculpture and tapestry, to his most famous painting ''Bestiaire et Musique''. Measures 11.75'' x 11''. Near fine. Provenance from Christie's.
