Dinah Shore's original 1957 Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. This Emmy was awarded to long-time television personality Dinah Shore as host of ''The Dinah Shore Chevy Show'' for ''Best Musical, Variety, Audience Participation or Quiz Series''. The wildly popular variety show became a spin-off of her original ''Dinah Shore Show'' as Chevrolet Motor Division became the sponsor. The show aired from 1956-1963 as a live broadcast in NBC's famed ''living color,'' with the signature ''See the U.S.A. in Your Chevrolet'' theme song sung by Shore. Shore performed alongside Ella Fitzgerald, Mahalia Jackson, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Pearl Bailey and many other Hollywood icons. The front of the base reads: ''The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 1957 Award / Best Musical Variety Audience Participation of Quiz Series / Dinah Shore Chevy Show''. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' iconic statue of a winged woman on tiptoe, holding an atom, is intended to symbolize television's convergence of science and art. Statue is made of gold-plated metal on a metal base. Statuette stands 15.25'' high including the 7.5'' diameter base and weighs approximately 6 pounds. Some minor tarnishing; overall in very good condition. A gorgeous legacy to one of Hollywood's greats.
