Charlie Chaplin signed photo. The legendary movie star inscribes the lower portion of the image: ''With best wishes / Charlie Chaplin / 19-36.'' It was in 1936 that Chaplin made ''Modern Times,'' considered the masterpiece of his voluminous body of work. Troubled by the plight of Americans during the Great Depression, Chaplin crafted ''Modern Times'' as a satire, targeting the new industrialized economy through his iconic character, the Little Tramp. Matte photo measures 11'' x 14''. Inscription in an unknown hand to the lower left reading ''To. EDW Miller'' and several creases, else near fine.
