John Tyler scalloped ships paper signed ''J. Tyler'' as President, dated 20 October 1842. Countersigned by Daniel Webster as Secretary of State. Ships passport allows the brig Volin safe passage: ''...the Brig Volin...Henry H. Brightman master or commander, of the burthen of 120 & 71/95 tons or thereabouts, mounted with no guns, navigated with 22 men to pass with her Company, Passengers, Goods, and Merchandize, without any hindrance seizure or molestation.'' With two detailed maritime vignettes at the top and an intact blindstamped seal. Docketing on the verso. Document measures 11.5'' x 14.75'' with toning along edges. Very good condition.
