Little Bighorn Survivor Frank M. Gibson of the 7th Cavalry signed court martial document. Dated 28 May 1878 as ''1st Lieut. 7th Cavalry'', Gibson here acts as judge advocate general of the court martial. His sworn deposition testimony is transcribed here, with Gibson describing the escape of a horse declared lost after a search party failed to find it for two days. Gibson exonerates the man tending to the horse, writing, ''no blame can be attached for the loss''. Gibson served in Co. H under Marcus A. Reno at Little Bighorn and was made Company Commander after the battle. He later fought in the Nez Perce campaign and in the Plains Wars. Two page document measures 8'' x 12.5''.
