June 2025 Sally Ride Auction Ends Thursday, June 26th, 5pm Pacific
Large lot of items personally owned by Sally Ride, including her personal keepsakes and items associated with Stanford, her tennis career, activism and promotion of science. Lot includes:
1) Sally Ride's personally owned high school graduation program. Westlake School for Girls 1968 Commencement Exercises program lists Ride as one of the graduates and also as receiving Honors in Science. Four page card-style program measures 6.25'' x 9.25''. Light toning and vertical crease, overall very good condition.
2) Sally Ride's personally owned wallet containing 14 of her business and promotional cards. Includes two of Ride's business cards for Sally Ride Science; four of her business cards for Imaginary Lines - the name of the company before it changed to Sally Ride Science; and eight ''Science Club'' cards that she would likely give out to young people interested in science. Very good to near fine condition.
3) Sally Ride's personally owned lifetime membership card to the National Women's Hall of Fame, listing Ride as an inductee in 1988. Measures 2.25'' x 3.75''. Near fine.
4) Bright pink bumper sticker reading ''A Woman's Place is in the Cockpit!'', personally owned by Sally Ride. Likely displayed by Ride in her office or somewhere to inspire her. Minor wear, still with backing.
5) Sally Ride's personally owned Press badge for ''Sportswoman'' magazine, listing Ride as an accredited representative of the magazine. Card expires 31 December 1976. Measures 3.5'' x 2.25''. Light wear, very good plus condition.
6) Sally Ride's personally owned Certificate of Ranking from the U.S. Lawn Tennis Association. Ride was ranked #26 for the 1967 year in Girls' 16 Singles. Ride briefly considered a career in professional tennis before switching her focus to science in 1970. Certificate measures 10.25'' x 8.5''. Minor creasing, very good plus condition.
7) Sally Ride's personally owned Tennis Score Card for the Finals Women's Eastern Collegiate in 1969, played between Ride as a Swarthmore student and Pat Garcia of Mary Baldwin University. Interior of program is filled out and Ride is noted as winning in two sets. Measures 4.375'' x 7.375''. Very good plus condition.
8) Sally Ride's personally owned card from the Southern California Tennis Association, displaying her rank in 1963 as #20. Ride was only 12 years old at the time. Measures 3.625'' x 2.25''. Near fine.
9) Sally Ride's personally owned keepsake from her Ph.D. oral exam at Stanford University. Yellow notice from the Physics Department at Stanford lists Ride as the speaker on 1 June 1978, also listing the title of her dissertation, ''Interaction of X-Rays with the Interstellar Medium''. Notice measures approximately 8.5'' x 6''. Very good plus condition.
10) Sally Ride's personally owned Stanford University pennant. Ride earned two bachelor's degrees, her masters degree and her Ph.D. from Stanford, and also later served as a fellow for the Center for International Security and Arms Control at Stanford. Large red and white felt pennant measures 29.5'' long. Very good to near fine condition.
11) Large lucite plaque from Stanford University with a photo of Ride and titled ''Sally Ride House'' at top. A biography of Ride's time with Stanford is included along with the decision by students and the University to rename a dorm residence in her honor. Measures 6.375'' x 8.75''. Near fine condition.
