Royal invitation to ''a Ball at Buckingham Palace'' on 19 July 1939. Invitation sent by Lord Chamberlain on behalf of Their Majesties King George VI and Queen Elizabeth specifies the attire as ''Evening Dress: Knee Breeches, White Waistcoat / Decorations, Riband and Star / and Miniature Medals.'' Partially-printed invitation is addressed by hand in ink to Captain & Mrs. Humphrey Lloyd. With the royal cypher of George and Elizabeth in gilt at top. Measures 7.25'' x 5''. Foxing and a small stain to bottom edge, else near fine.
