'Juliet Jones'' illustration by Stan Drake, gifted to Dean Young who authored the ''Blondie'' comic strip after his father, ''Blondie'' creator Chic Young, passed away in 1973. Prior to illustrating ''Blondie'' beginning in 1984, Drake illustrated ''The Heart of Juliet Jones'' strip, and this illustration of Juliet Jones was the last in Drake's possession, as stated in the card accompanying the piece. Illustration measures 6.5'' x 8.75'', matted to a size of 11'' x 12.875''. Drake inscribes the mat, ''Happy Birthday to Dean, from Blondie's friend, Juliet - (and your friend, Stan Drake '96''. Accompanied by 7'' x 5.125'' card also inscribed by Drake, ''Dear ol' Dean: After 12 years on your staff, I calculate you own 4,380 original Stan Drake art on your Blondie pages! But... this original is what I gave up after 31 years, to go with you. I thought you might like to have the last Juliet Jones in my possession. Happy Birthday, Dean!! With my deepest respects and eternal friendship - Stan''. Some toning to illustration and with Drake's white-out, overall very good condition.
