John Hancock document signed as Governor of Massachusetts, datelined Boston, 20 October 1788. Here, Hancock confirms the position of Samuel Cooper as Justice of the Peace in Suffolk County. Boldly signed by Hancock underneath the Massachusetts seal, and countersigned by John Avery, Jr. as Secretary. Single page measures 7.5'' x 11.5''. Partial separation along folds and chipping, and a few closed tears. Light soiling, and a small bit of worming to seal. Overall very good condition.
