John F. Kennedy inaugural medal made of 18 karat gold, an extremely rare example designed by noted 20th century medalist Emilio Monti and minted by Stefano Johnson in Milan. Only three of these inaugural medals are known to have been minted, with one given to President Kennedy, and this one given to Kennedy's personal physician Dr. James Young. No auction records have appeared for the other two medals, with this one possibly being the only one extant. The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum owns a similar medal designed by Monti that was issued after Kennedy was assassinated, differing from this example with the dates of Kennedy's time in office (1961-1963) on the reverse.

Front of medal depicts JFK's profile in relief with the words ''John F. Kennedy President'' encircled, and the reverse features the U.S. Capitol in relief with the words ''United States Capitol / Washington D.C. / January 1961''. With 18 karat gold maker's mark of 750 on reverse, along with ''S. Johnson - Italy''. Medal weighs 150 grams and measures 2.375'' in diameter. Fine condition. Likely the rarest of John F. Kennedy gold inauguration medals.
