John Adams document signed as President, granting Hincha Gilliam 605 acres of land in Ohio for military service performed by John Gilliam, a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War. Vellum document is datelined Philadelphia, 14 March 1798. Countersigned by Timothy Pickering as Secretary of Sate and also by James McHenry as Secretary of War on the verso. Measures 12.25'' x 14.25''. Small holes at intersecting folds and irregularly trimmed margins. Overall in very good condition with intact paper seal and a bold signature by Adams. Accompanied by two engravings of Adams and Pickering.
