Beautiful Lenox china cup and saucer made for the Carter White House, with an emerald-jade color known as ''Carter green'' complementing the ivory colored base and gilt accents. The Presidential seal in gilt on both pieces completes the style, which was ordered specifically for formal state dinners, but which arrived too late in 1980 to be used in the Executive Mansion, and is instead displayed at the Carter Presidential Library; the service is particularly rare as a result. Both pieces are marked on the underside, ''Exhibit Collection / for / Lenox, Inc.'' and ''The White House / 1980''. Near fine condition.
