Jerry Seinfeld handwritten notes for his comedy routine. Composed on four separate sheets of yellow legal paper, Seinfeld works through comedy bits like ''Baseball Hot Dog'' that he would debut in 2010. In what would ultimately become a riff on how everything either ''sucks'' or it's ''great'', Seinfeld here writes, ''And then you go to a baseball game and you have a hot dog and you get excited about that hot dog. And you go, 'This is great.' Because it's a hot dog, these are great and you're at a ball game. / And even though you know that hot dog sucks it doesn't matter because you can sit there going, 'These are great and they suck.' That's how close it is.''
Another sheet titled ''Email'' reads in part, '''Did you get my email?' is another thing I never need to hear the rest of my life. 'Did you get it? Did you get it?' Yeah, I got it. We're all getting all of them. It's a Zero Defect System. It's not like the Postal Service where you've got to flip the lid on the mailbox a couple of times to make sure it goes down...if you have not recieved [sic] a message back that is the response. You ever make a statement and have people just stare at you? Same thing.'' A third sheet also is a draft of the Email joke.
The fourth sheet is titled ''Wider Network'', with Seinfeld writing in part, ''Sitting there on the phone with someone you've known for years, holding the mouthpiece over your held as they drone on about the same issues they've had since the 70's. Nobody wants to know anybody, anymore. We just want to get back to them. All we want is to type a large number of short messages, more frequently using abbreviated words to communicate less information to a wider network of fatter people that are extremely pressed for time.''
Sheets were given to the Concierge of Portland, Oregon's Heathman Hotel on 23 May 2009, where Seinfeld was staying when performing next door at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Accompanied by the Concierge Nathan Markiewicz's business card, as well as his LOA stating that Seinfeld's manager Kevin Dochtermann gave him the notes. Also accompanied by Dochtermann's business card and a print-out of the invoice from Seinfeld's stay at the hotel. Set of four sheets measure 8.5'' x 13''. Moderate creasing, overall in very good condition with bold, legible handwriting.
