Iwo Jima hero and flag raiser, John Bradley large lot of signed checks, all additionally made out in his hand. Famous for raising the U.S. flag atop Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima -- to the cheers and delight of U.S. soldiers below -- Bradley was awarded the Navy Cross for his extraordinary heroism at Iwo Jima. Checks span his post-WWII life, including many to charitable organizations such as St. Jude Children's Hospital, Wisconsin Public Radio and the Christian Appalachian Project. Checks include: 84 from The People's Bank in Antigo, Wisconsin from the 1950s and 255 from his personal account in Wisconsin during the 1980-90s. All checks measure approximately 6'' x 2.75''. In very good condition, most with normal cancellation stamps. Bradley signs his full name on all of them, ''John H. Bradley''. With an LOA from John Bradley's son, ''Flags of Our Fathers'' author James Bradley.
