Iwo Jima hero, Ira Hayes signed envelope from 1945, with two Iwo Jima stamps affixed for postage. Hayes signs the return portion of the envelope, ''Mr. Ira H. Hayes / Bapchule, Arizona / Box 906'' with ''Via Air Mail'' added in his hand. Envelope is addressed to his parents, ''Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Hayes / Bapchule Arizona / Box 906''. Envelope is postmarked 16 October 1945, U.S. Navy on the front, and 29 October 1945 from Bapchule on the verso. Some wear and toning and torn along right edge from opening. Overall in very good condition.
