Hunter S. Thompson typed letter from 1 February 1966 with Vietnam War and ''Hell's Angels'' content. Writing to his friend Paul Semonin, letter reads in part, ''...Resumption of bombing touched off a sort of disoriented hysteria here, 'Impeach Johnson' marches, etc. The radical establishment seems confused by apparent intransigence of VC and Hanoi. Is it a news failure out hee, or is Hanson Baldwin right? I am getting to feel uneasy. These swine in Congress are serious when they talk about Total War. I think maybe drugs are the only answer. / The book jerks along. Barring disaster I'll make it by Mar 1. After that, I don't know. I keep volunteering to come to NY to hurry it through rewriting, etc, but so far they've all ignored me...H'', with Thompson circling his initial in blue ballpoint. Letter on pale green paper measures 8.5'' x 11''. Near fine condition.
