Hunter S. Thompson autograph letter signed, composed on custom stationery for ''Owl Farm'', Thompson's ranch in Woody Creek, Colorado. Dated 27 March 1967, Thompson writes in red ink to his friend Paul Semonin about problems receiving payment from Random House for ''Hell's Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs''. Letter reads in part, ''Dear Rabble-Rouser / Your pitiful card goads me to action...I'm looking for a place with an extra dwelling on the grounds, like the one I have/had here - so far no luck...I don't have a stick of furniture - nor do I have any money - not a penny yet from Random on the book, and a big court/contract battle is shaping up...This is a wretched development here & along with the R.H.-Ballantine duplicity it has driven me up the wall. But I'll get something...Write. H''. Three page letter on three sheets measures 8.5'' x 11''. Folds, and light creasing, overall in very good condition.
