Marquis de Lafayette autograph letter signed, datelined 9 November 1818 from his home in La Grange, France. During this time, Lafayette was hosting dignitaries and celebrities from around the world, especially those from America who wanted to meet the hero of the Revolutionary War. In French, Lafayette writes a lengthy missive, signed ''Lafayette'' at the conclusion. Composed on card-style stationery with integral address leaf, postmarked 12 November 1818. Measures 6.5'' x 8.25''. Folds and small tear on address leaf from wax seal, overall in very good plus condition.
