Henry Longfellow signed copy of his ''Longfellow's Poems'' in two volumes, inscribed to the President of Harvard University, Josiah Quincy III. Upon the front free endpaper of Volume I, Longfellow writes, ''Dedicated To: Josiah Quincy III / Your Obt Svt: and obliged friend / Henry W Longfellow''. Published by H.O. Houghton & Co.: Riverside, Cambridge: 1856. Volumes are the Blue and Gold Editions with Longfellow's frontispiece portrait, measuring 3.75'' x 5.75'', designed to mimic the popular pocket-sized editions of poetry popular in London at the time. Separation at hinges and some cocking, otherwise very good condition. An attractive set with an interesting Harvard and Boston association.
