Rare cabinet card signed by King Kalakaua, the last King of the Hawaiian Islands. Without inscription, the King boldly signs ''Kalakaua'' below his portrait in military uniform. With photographer's mark J. Williams of Honolulu on bottom and verso. King Kalakaua ruled the Hawaiian Islands for nearly 20 years, restoring many of the islands' cultural practices such as the reintroduction of the hula, which had been banned by missionaries.
