Handwritten Letter Requesting a Pass to View King Tut's Tomb in 1924

Handwritten letter to P. M. Tottenham, Egypt's Under Secretary of State, requesting a pass to view King Tut's tomb at the time of its excavation. Dated 20 January 1924, letter in French translates approximately, in part, ''Excellency, I have the honor to request your high benevolence a special permit for my wife and me to visit the tomb of Tout Ankh Amon...'' From Edward Sourdot, Professor at Zagazig University in Egypt. A secretarial note reads, ''Tottemham says 'refuse'''. Single-page letter measures 6.5'' x 8.25''. Notations and toning. Very good.
