Gold winner's medal from the 2nd XI Scottish Cup, awarded to top player Hughie Gallacher of the Senior Reserve Airdrieonians in the 1921-22 season. The Airdrieonians defeated the Albion Rovers 5-0 to capture their first ever 2nd XI Scottish Cup. The 18 year-old Gallacher went on to be one of the highest scoring players for the Scottish National Team. Medal features an applied colorful enamel Airdrie crest in black, white, red, yellow and mauve to obverse. Reverse is inscribed with the name and year of the tournament, the name of the club and ''H. Gallacher''. Medal bears 9 kt gold hallmarks alongside the maker's mark of ''J.M.c.M'', J. McMenamin Ltd. of Glasgow. Measures just over 1'' in diameter and weighs one quarter ounce or 9 grams. In near fine condition.
