Charming lot of George Herriman original artwork, comprising two color sketches given to an acquaintance who worked at his local Post Office in the 1940s. The first piece, hand-drawn on an envelope postmarked from Los Angeles on 1 February 1943 shows Krazy Kat in a First Class mailbag, with Ignatz telling him ''Hey Kat - Freight goes out over there - You're in the wrong bag.'' Herriman writes his name and address at top left and inscribes the envelope to the recipient Rosie Humrichouse with the number of the Postal Station where she worked. Second piece is a colorful hand-drawn sketch showing Herriman serenading his friend ''Rosita'', signed ''Ole Man Herriman''. Envelope measures 6.75'' x 3.75'' and card measures 6.25'' x 3.375''. Uniform toning to envelope, else near fine. Card is bright, in near fine condition.
