Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed ''F.D.R.'', dated 20 July 1928 regarding a ''crisis'' at Warm Springs. Roosevelt writes to his physical therapist Helena Mahoney who, along with Dr. Leroy Hubbard, developed the treatment protocol at Warm Springs, which launched only two years prior in 1926. On Roosevelt's custom business stationery, letter reads in part, ''...You have certainly had a mighty hard two weeks and I wish I could have stayed on at Warm Springs to help out in the crisis. I am distressed to hear about Norman Wilson. I hope the others are improving. / Missy [LeHand] got home all right although she had had a bad digestive upset. On Monday she was much better but that night ate a large quantity of popcorn...It has been a very hot week here and I hope to spend all of next week at Hyde Park. / If Dr. Hubbard likes Lookout Mountain, why don't you run up there for a few days? It seems to me that the Foundation ought to arrange for definite little holidays like this for the medical staff...[signed] F.D.R.'' Single page letter measures 7.25'' x 10.5''.
