Samuel Adams twice-signed tax document, signed by Adams in 1763 as Boston Tax Collector. Adams was a popular tax collector who was often lax in collecting revenues, choosing to incur the debt as his own personal expense instead. Here he invoices Harrison Gray, Esq. for taxes owed. Signed ''S. Adams'' at conclusion, and also signed on verso, ''Rec'd in full / Saml Adams''. Document measures 5.25'' x 4'', inlaid to wove paper measuring 6.125'' x 4.875''. Silking to verso. Very good condition.
