Ernest Hemingway envelope signed ''E Hemingway'' on the verso. Envelope is postmarked 14 October 1931 from St. Louis, Missouri where Hemingway lived at the time with his wife Pauline Pfeiffer, while working on the book ''Death in the Afternoon''. The front of the envelope shows the addressee, handwritten by Hemingway, as Charles MacGregor, ''care Mr. R[obert] Benchley'', both of whom were members of the Algonquin Round Table literary group to which Hemingway also belonged. Envelope measures 6.5'' x 3.75''. Torn right edge from opening, and light wear. Overall very good condition.
