Acclaimed Hollywood costume designer Edith Head costume sketch signed. The 8-time Oscar winner draws a three-quarter length coat dress with self-belt in navy blue with powder blue turtleneck underneath and signs "Edith Head" to the lower right corner. Sketch is labeled by Head in pencil, "Rita Hayworth / A Hole in / the Head" to the upper left. Hayworth was later recast in the Frank Capra picture, and her replacement Eleanor Parker wore this same design. Edith Head won more Academy Awards than any other woman in history for her costume designs. Single-page drawing measures 14" x 17". Irregular top edge from removal from a spiral binding, else near fine.
