Complete set of "Harper's Weekly" newspapers from 1864, bound together into a book measuring 12" x 16.5", with each of the weekly papers running approximately 16 pages. "Harper's Weekly" was one of the primary news sources for Americans during the Civil War, with coverage here of notable battles including the Fort Pillow massacre, the Libby Prison escape of over 100 Union soldiers, plus the 1864 Presidential election and the Long Walk of the Navajo. Also with numerous illustrations by Thomas Nast - called "The Father of the American Cartoon" - who rejoined the paper in 1862. Boards partially detached from text block with a few loose pages and some chipping to interior pages. Light toning and foxing. Good plus condition.
