Clark Gable's personally owned copy of ''Crusade in Europe'', Dwight Eisenhower's memoir of World War II. Garden City: Doubleday & Company, Inc., 1948. With Gable's bookplate to front free endpaper, reading ''Kathleen and Clark Gable'', dating ownership to sometime after 1955. Gable served in the Army Air Corps as an aerial gunner during WWII and flew five combat missions over Germany, earning the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Major. Bound in publisher's brown buckram boards with maps to the endpapers, top edge gilt and other edges deckled. Measures 6.75'' x 9.75'' and runs 559 pages. Lacking D-Day prefatory page, otherwise near fine condition.
