Famed 19th and 20th century defense lawyer, Clarence Darrow autograph letter signed regarding Prohibition, the legality of which Darrow vehemently opposed. Upon his personal stationery, Darrow writes on 13 July [1930] to Dr. Forrest R. Black, a law professor who would publish ''Ill Starred Prohibition Cases: A Study in Judicial Pathology''. Letter reads, ''My Dear Mr. Black / I have done nothing more about the story. I shall write something...without using any part of your...article. Just unfold the idea as I did to you. Then I hope that the same papers will take yours and fortify the position. I am concerned that it is the best idea that has been put forward and I am anxious to get it out quick regardless of my connection with it. Always with best wishes / Your friend / Clarence Darrow''. Single page letter measures 7.25'' x 10.25''. Light uniform toning and some creasing, overall in very good condition.
