Signature of Chentung Liang Cheng, Chinese Ambassador to the United States shortly after the Boxer Rebellion. Liang was responsible for negotiating the return of the U.S. indemnity (originally paid by China as a concession for the Rebellion) in order to establish Tsinghua University. Liang elegantly signs his name in both Mandarin and English, ''Chentung Liang Cheng'', along with the date of 11 January 1904, at which time he served as Ambassador. Page measures 7.375'' x 4.5''.
