Charles Chaplin inscribes a photo of himself, ''To the Mayor of Lambeth / Thanking you from both us / beautiful album! always - Charlie Chaplin''. As a child Chaplin lived in a workhouse in Lambeth following his mother's institutionalization. In 1975, the borough held an exhibition honoring Chaplin and the mayor sent Chaplin a gift signed by well-wishers. Included is a typed letter signed by the mayor on his stationery. Photo measures 5'' x 6.75''. Creasing to corners, else near fine.
