Captain Kangaroo award lot, personally owned by Robert Keeshan. Multitude of awards presented to Keeshan include: (1) gorgeous silver bowl trophy from 1960, presented by Schwinn Bicycles for Keeshan's endorsement of Schwinn bikes on the show; (2) silver bowl as a Communications Award presented by Phi Alpha Tau of Emerson College in 1983; (3) American Academy of Pediatrics Partnership for Children award in the form of a triangular glass trophy; (4) light green glass award from Miami Children's Hospital for Keeshan's induction into the David M. Walters Hall of Fame in 1986; (5) framed plaque from New Yorkers Ed Richter & Lynne Ginnane ''For the many mornings of Good Times & Education''; (6) Fran Allison Award in a shadow box. The Captain's fellow children's entertainer honors him ''...for bringing joy to young people...''; (7) certificate of recognition from New York's town of Brookhaven; (8) large silver platter engraved with an image of the Captain, bestowed in honor of the show's twentieth anniversary; (9) TV Radio Mirror award certificate. The polling organization honors Captain Kangaroo in its third season, 1957-58 as the favorite children's program of American audiences; (10) adorable 1991 award from the Children For Children Festival put on by Child Advocates Inc. Figural trophy is a plaster sculpture of a boy and his dog, made by Austin Productions, Inc. from the Bright Eyes line by Dee Crowley. Lot also includes 3 bronze medals by Medallic Art Co. from: (1) Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, honoring CBS for ''US Constitution'' in 1961; (2) Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 1971 and (3) Lincoln Memorial University. Also included is a granite paperweight from Wausau Area Community Foundation Inc., presented to Keeshan as featured speaker of the George L. Ruder Forum in 1995, and finally a medal from Alverno College. Some tarnishing to silver pieces and the occasional nicking or scratching to frames and bases, else lot is near fine overall.
