Bruce Lee's personally owned copy of the screenplay ''The Silent Flute'', written by Academy Award winner Stirling Silliphant, who was also a student of Lee's, and who collaborated with Lee on the script. Lee, in fact, writes the foreword to the script. Dated 19 October 1970, seventy-page screenplay ends with a photocopied page in Lee's handwriting with his thoughts on the characters. Lee was to play several characters in the film, and he writes of one of them, ''Monkey Man'', ''Cord's first terrifying opponent. Ego - the first trial. A technically skillful martial artist with no depth of soul...'' Script measures 8.5'' x 11''. From the collection of Herb Jackson, whose well-documented friendship with Lee began when he trained in Jeet Kune Do at Lee's Los Angeles martial arts academy. Before Lee's move to Hong Kong, he gifted many items to Jackson. With a COA from Herb Jackson's son.
