Cunard Lines broadside from 1877, with a beautiful vignette of steamships, advertising its routes from Boston to the United Kingdom, with ''cabin and steerage passage at low rates''. Cunard Lines (officially the British and North American Royal Mail Steam Packet Company) was one of the first shipping companies to take advantage of the population explosion in the late 1800s as a result of European immigration. It established a network of agents in major cities in both America and Europe to book travel upon its passenger ships, and advertised in part through these broadsides. Royal blue and cream broadside measures 29'' x 42''. In very good condition with archival tape to verso for separation along folds, and two areas of paper loss: a 1.5'' triangular section at lower right and a .5'' hole at top right along fold. A gorgeous display piece.
